Xiaomi YU7 vs Audi Q5L: the new electric value against the default premium SUV
The Q5L is the safe, familiar choice. The YU7 is bigger, faster and electric for less money. The comparison is less about specs than about charging access and risk tolerance.

The Q5L is the known quantity
The Q5L has been the default premium family SUV in China for years. Its 2.0T and seven-speed dual-clutch are familiar, its dealer network is broad and its resale is predictable. The 45 TFSI's 180 kW and 7.0-second sprint are adequate, not exciting.
The YU7 undercuts it by roughly ¥96,000 while offering 235 kW, a 96.3 kWh battery and 835 km CLTC. On paper, the Xiaomi is in a different performance and equipment class.
The charging question decides more than the badge
The YU7's advantage is only real if the buyer can charge at home or at work. Without that, the 835 km CLTC figure becomes a weekly public-charging routine, and the Q5L's petrol refuelling is simpler.
The Q5L's 7.8 L/100 km WLTC is not frugal, but it is predictable. The YU7's 12.9–15.9 kWh/100 km is cheaper per kilometre where home charging is available.
Space, software and the Audi difference
The YU7 is 157 mm longer and has a 55 mm longer wheelbase, with a 678-litre boot versus roughly 520 litres. Its cabin is more screen-heavy and its ADAS hardware is more aggressive.
The Q5L's advantage is integration: physical controls, consistent materials and a chassis that feels settled at speed. The YU7 is a first-generation SUV; the Q5L is the product of many generations.
Resale and risk
The Q5L's resale is one of its strongest arguments. The YU7's is unknown. A lower purchase price does not guarantee a lower total cost if the Xiaomi depreciates faster.
Insurance, tyre costs and repair access also differ. The table only covers the showroom decision.
